History of los Sambos Caporales
The Folkloric Group Sambos Caporales, starts its activities in the city of
Oruro May 15, 1976, with the purpose of participating and to enlarge the
festivals of the carnival, in honor of the Virgen of el Socavón.
SAMBOS CAPORALES directed by the Escalier brothers at the Oruro
Carnaval in Bolivia (Carnaval named by the UNESCO Masterpiece of the
Oral and Intangible Patrimony of Humanity), where the dance appeared
for the first time at the Oruro Carnval Bolivia, with an agile choreography,
different enthusiasm to the traditional dances, accompanied with the
rhythm of Tundiqui, Tuntuna aggressiveness, Saya strength and a
contagious Caporal rhythm from Los Yungas and La Paz, Bolivia, South
America.
In the year 1980, the ACFO (Asociacion de Conjuntos Folkloricos de
Oruro), organized for the first time, the election of the favorite sister of the

choreographic unfolding of the group and the elegance of
the costumes, thanks to the management of the Fraternity's
president, Germán Navia, los "Sambos Caporales" left for
the first time out of our borders to show the dance of the
caporal, arriving at the city of Juliaca, Republic of Peru,
marking on that occasion a great success on each one of
its presentations, this was the first step for a large quantity
of trips in the interior and exterior of the country.

In this way the history in the state of Colorado, United States repeats itself.
Students from the High school CEC Middle college of Denver, with the
idea to be remember in their final year of study along with the brother of
one of the students, in the dining room of the school they decide to form a
folkloric group with the idea to present Bolivian dances.
With the enthusiasm of this group of youths and the support of the
Folkloric Arts Center "Paja Brava" from La Paz - Bolivia, the support and
participation of two original members from the Folkloric Fraternity
"Sambos Caporales" of 1976 and the support of the school, in October 12,
2005 the "Folkloric Center Illimani" directed by the Fernández brothers is
founded.
In the coming of months, we join with the Folkloric Cultural Fraternity
"Sambos Caporales" from Bolivia, becoming "Sambos Colorado USA",
also directed by the Fernandez brothers, becoming part of a great fraternity
of high trajectory to both national and International levels at both countries
Bolivia and the United States.

With the passing years in the year 2008 we decide to adopt the name " Illimani ", this due to rescuing the name of one of the Afiliates
of more trajectory that were "Sambos Illimani " in the City of La Paz Bolivia that at present "Sambos La Paz", thus it takes the name
of "Sambos Illimani Colorado USA ", and being one of the Afiliates of "Sambos Caporales USA" with more achievements the same
achievements that been forged following the lead of "Sambos Illimani" of La Paz Bolivia.
Presently in the city of Oruro (Bolivia), counts with the affiliates of: "Sambos Caporales Bloque Sajama", Childlike, Youthful, The
Eighteen, Achachis, Super Achachis, and a group of so much figures of ladies as well as the males. In the remainder of the country it
counts with the following affiliates: from the City of La Paz (Bolivia) the union of "Sambos Caporales Bloque Illimani" and "Sambos
Caporales Bloque Por Siempre" form "Sambos Caporales Bloque La Paz" , in the city of Sucre (Bolivia) "Sambos Caporales Bloque
Churuquella" and city of Cochabamba (Bolivia) "Sambos Caporales Bloque Tunari", Bolivia. In the United States, City of Denver
Colorado "Sambos Caporales Bloque Illimani Colorado USA", the City of Panorama California "Sambos Caporales Bloque Los
